Have you got a project or professional development opportunity that you need funding for? The ASVO Scholarship Program has been designed to support the professional development of members to undertake skills development and training that is relevant to their professional practice.
This is a competitive grants program. Applications will be evaluated by an assessment panel. This assessment will be based on funding priorities, demonstrated need and the funds available. Focus is on proposals that have tangible, positive and ideally long-term outcomes. Successful applicants will be expected to provide key learnings obtained through the scholarhsip funding to ASVO members. How you plan to achieve this are to be included in the application.
ASVO strongly encourages applications from members who:
- Have not received other forms of funding for the project or professional development opportunity applied for.
- Have significant out-of-pocket costs for the for the project or professional development opportunity applied for
- Are based in rural or remote areas
- Are members of equity groups, such as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- Members who have been away from the wokforce for some time had a gap from caring workforce after
- Have a long-term medical condition or disability
- Are current or former refugees
- Identify as LGBTQI+

ASVO NextGen
ASVO is committed to supporting the growth of the next generation of wine sector professionals. The sScholarship program is designed to support outstanding individuals who have identified a career path in the wine sector.
Five scholarships of up to $1000 are offered for individuals to undertake professional education opportunities to enhance their leadership abilities, deepen their industry knowledge, and engage in collaborative learning experiences with peers from varied backgrounds and sectors.
The ASVO NextGen scholarship is supported by Wine Australia, with levies from Australia’s grapegrowers and winemakers and matching funds from the Australian Government.

ASVO Growth Scholarship
The ASVO mid-career scholarship supports mid-career members with a minimum of five years in the wine industry. It aims to advance professional development opportunities. The scholarship awards activities such as attending a management or leadership course; a study tour; conferences, publishing research, or a combination of these.

ASVO Dr Patrick Iland Scholarship
Dr Patrick Iland OAM is an ASVO Fellow and has been involved in teaching, publishing, and research in the areas of grape and wine chemistry for over 40 years. As teacher and researcher in wine chemistry, viticulture and sensory evaluation at Roseworthy Agricultural College and then The University of Adelaide he helped launch the careers of many winemakers and viticulturists who continue to be instrumental in shaping the future of the Australian wine industry. The series of books that he has written with other authors cover general wine knowledge and the theory and practice of laboratory analysis, cellar operations and vineyard management.
The ASVO Dr Patrick Iland Scholarship is supported by Dr Patrick Iland and co-authors who have donated their royalty share of the following technical books to ASVO
- Techniques and methods for chemical, physical and sensory analyses and tests of grapes and wines.
